New Executive Director for Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton CountyHospice Palliative Care Society Welcomes New Executive Director Sydney, NS… As of June 1st, Corrie Stewart has taken the lead as the new Executive Director for the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County. A Sydney Mines resident, Corrie brings a significant number of relevant skills and a broad educational background to this role as the Society expands its support for patients and families being cared for in the local Nova Scotia Health Palliative Care Service. In recent years, Corrie has served as minister to four rural church congregations as well as operating a small accounting practice. His education and career experiences have seen him hold positions in finance, technology, process development, human resources and planning initiatives. He has also been involved in a wide range of local and national volunteer organizations and appreciates the value of relationships with governments and community stakeholders. His ministry has shown him the importance of providing compassion and care to individuals and their families during times of life-threatening illness. Twenty -five years of work experience has seen Corrie learn, adapt and lead effectively in business, the Presbyterian church ministry and multi-faceted volunteer environments. He sees this role with Hospice Palliative Care “as an opportunity to merge his calling to ministry, with his management, financial and human resources experience.” For Corrie and the Society’s board, it is a perfect fit. Board Chair, Jane Lewis says “Corrie’s combination of business acumen, problem solving skills and empathy are just what’s needed for the daily and long-range operations of the Society.
