You are never too young to make a difference! Anna and Clare Kaupp–the grandchildren of long time Society volunteer Anne Marie Fraser– set up a lemonade stand at the end of their driveway and raised $100 for the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County. How sweet it is!
Beauty comes from the heart. The annual Beauty and Glam pageant is held in support of the not-for-profit organization supporting young children who are bullied. They donate half of the proceeds of the pageant to a local charity, and this year donated $1,410 to the Society.
The Cape Breton Classic Cruisers are as famous for their generosity as they are for their vintage Sonny Alexander, Fred Brace and Joe O’Keefe presented a $6,625 cheque to staff member Kathy Forsey. They raise the funds at the car show held at Centre 200, and Charlotte Street in Sydney. They are pretty classy guys!
How do you catch a washer? Very carefully! The Parsons family of Bras d’Or held their annual washer toss tourney in memory of their father Bob. This is the second year they held the event, raising $1125 for the Society.
The Free-Wheelin’ Motorcycle Club knows how to drive straight to our hearts. The local motorcycle enthusiasts have generously donated $1,000 to the Society.
The Fine Things Craft Guild of New Waterford know how to appreciate the finer things in life—like giving to others. Jody Sutherland and Elizabeth Campbell presented the cheque for $799. Thank you!
The Women of Peace and Hope know how to create beautiful items, and turn them into something even more amazing. Through the sale of the items they lovingly craft, they donated $7,000 to the Society! Over the years, they have donated a total of $80,000!
John Edward Shepard passed away 3 years ago (5 years after his loving wife, Linda (Roberts)) had passed while in the palliative care service. His career was with the Federal Civil Service and he remained committed to public service even in death by donating his entire estate to charity. The Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County were very fortunate to be one of the beneficiaries which received a significant donation of $45, 818.83.
