The Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County and Nova Scotia Health Authority’s Palliative Care Service have worked together for over 35 years to provide an integrated Circle of Caring approach to hospice palliative care across our communities.

How You Can Help

It is with the generous commitment of community that the Society, working in collaboration with the dedicated Palliative Care Service, hospice staff and volunteers, can meet the unique and immediate needs of patients, their caregivers, and families at a time when comfort, compassion and care is needed most.

We may not be able to add days to life, but we can add life to days.

Anne Marie Dwyer’s husband Brian says his wife sang in a choir and responds to music through her expressions of joy and peacefulness during music therapy sessions with Jill Murphy. She loves the song Gentle Woman which mirrors her presence, and connects her with her past experiences when she sang with her church choir. She and Jill recorded it along with many other songs, which were later given to her family as a gift they now cherish.
