The Society depends on the continued generosity of the community to provide the many services to palliative care patients and their families. It is this sustained community support that makes the palliative care service a true community initiative and healing partnership.

Annual “Together We Care” Golf Tournament

For 17 years dedicated golfers and supporters of the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County have teed off for the annual “Together We Care” Golf Tournament. This day of comradery and fun attracts sell-out teams of golfers who bring in thousands of dollars for the Hospice Palliative Care Society, while having a great time on the greens. At the Bell Bay Golf Club in Baddeck this June, 2014, golfers raised $27,000 that was donated directly to the Society.

Shake Rattle ‘n Roll

What could be better than donning your favourite poodle skirt and bell bottoms and groovin’ to the tunes of the 50s, 60s and 70s? The annual Shake Rattle ‘n Roll for Hospice event attracts more than 400 people for a boppin’ good time. In 2014 the event raised $21,000 to support palliative care patients and their families. The unique events continues to knock the bobby socks off everyone who attends – mark your calendars to join us when the fun continues on April 25th, 2015.

Burger Week

The first Burger Week whet the appetites of many looking for a good meal and a good cause. Held from Oct. 31 to Nov. 7, the culinary fundraising event excited adventurous foodies and satisfied traditional burger lovers. With 19 restaurants participating, the event helped bring awareness to the much needed work underway by the Hospice Palliative Care Society and raised nearly $10,000. The generosity of the restaurants and support of Cape Bretoners demonstrated during the week once again shows the exemplary community that we live in. Burger Week will be held each November and is sure to be a much anticipated event.
