Every household has items that hold a place in our heart but no longer have a place in our home. They are pre-loved possessions such as vintage jewelry, purses and accessories, china, pottery, decor and entertaining items, collectibles, artwork, wall hangings, mirrors, fabric, yarn, quilting and sewing supplies, table linens, books, games, DVDs and special interest magazines. We appreciate the thought, but clothing is not accepted.

Your donations will become sales articles for the three-day Sunflower Treasures 2 Pop Up Shop.

Proceeds will support comfort and care items for palliative care patients and their families.

Donations Wanted for Pop Up Shop in Support of Hospice Palliative Care

Posted by | News | No Comments

A group of enthusiastic community volunteers are hosting a pop up shop later this month in support of the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County. Sunflower Treasures, the pop up shop, will sell pre-loved items looking for a new home.

The group is looking for pre-loved possessions such as vintage jewellery, purses, scarves and accessories; china, pottery, distinctive décor items; books, games, pieces of art; picture frames, needlework, fabric, yarn and other such articles that could be donated to a good cause for a good purpose.  (No clothing please.) Donations will be accepted at 291 Esplanade from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on April 14, 15 & 16 and April 21, 22 & 23.

Committee Chair Cheryl Read notes that “Every household has treasures that we love but no longer need or use. We are hoping the community will bring them to us. Sunflower Treasures will provide an opportunity for these items to find new homes where they will be loved and used again and at the same time contributing to the unique needs of patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.”

The Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County supports the local Palliative Care Service by offering numerous comfort and care programs to palliative care patients and their families. Recently, the Society has turned its focus to a much needed hospice residence.

Sunflower Treasures, a pop up shop in support of Hospice Cape Breton, will open its doors (291 Esplanade) from April 29 to May 1. Cash only; all unsold items will be donated to charity.
